Workout 39: Social Media SEO

Hello Reader,

Seems like you just can't get away from the Gram these days. Even at a decent restaurant.

Guess what - that applies even on Google.

Google is increasingly serving social media posts in the search results pages. Search for a church in a particular location, and there is a good chance that Google will serve social media posts.

It's like worlds colliding: social and search.

This is a great opportunity for churches, for two reasons:

1) If your church has a communications manager, there is a very good chance that she is keen on social media, but not as excited to learn and implement SEO. But, with only a few small modifications to her workflow, she can sometimes exponentially increase the reach of her social posts by getting them on Google search results. To put it another way, this is a way for your communications manager to do SEO for your church in a way that she will likely be excited about.

2) Most churches are not optimizing their social posts for search. This means that it is a great opportunity to take up more space on page 1 of Google if you are already there, or to get on page 1 in competetive markets.

Before I share the link to this workout, can I ask you a favor? Will you please forward this email to someone you know who does social media for her church? By doing so, you will help her have a greater impact for her church, and you will also help this newsletter grow and thrive.

Church SEO Shapeup Workout 33: Rag Hustler Hello Reader, People don't use the word "rag hustler" much anymore. That's too bad. It's a pretty great word. One of those things that's gone by the wayside now that we don't do newspapers anymore. Better days. Newspapers are old school, and so are press releases. Still, press releases remain one of my absolute favorite church marketing plays. You can use them to get featured in local media. But, they are also a powerful way to get backlinks AND to...
